The owners of a popular seafront restaurant on the Isle of Wight are taking over a landmark venue in Yarmouth.
AKA Restaurants, which runs the Hut in Colwell Bay, is leasing Salty’s restaurant and bar, on Quay Street, from Yarmouth Harbour Commissioners.
The Statutory Harbour Authority has recently purchased the building's freehold in an effort to boost the town's appeal.
Tim Adams, CEO and harbour master, said: “We have been concerned over the reduction in visitor amenity in Yarmouth and a revitalised Salty’s will do much to uplift the town’s offer”.
Salty's is located adjacent to the harbour’s estate and is perceived to be an important facility for harbour visitors and locals.
Sarah Turvill, chair of the Commissioners, said: “I am delighted that we have been able to conclude a timely purchase of the asset and I wish AKA every success with their new venture.”
Since 2020, Salty's has been under the ownership of couple Ed and Melanie Panek.
A post on the restaurant's website said the reason for its sale is 'due to family health issues'.
