THE top five locations for highest temperatures recorded on the Isle of Wight today (Friday) have been revealed.

According to the IW Met Service, Shorwell was the hottest today, with temperatures peaking at 25.7C.

Carisbrooke, Cowes and Northwood took second spot with a reading of 25.2C, just ahead of Smallbrook (24.9C).

“It has certainly taken its time getting there, but today we saw widespread temperatures in the low 20s, with a few spots even seeing the mid-20s,” said local forecaster Jamie Russell.

“Shorwell came in as the warmest spot with 25.7C, although a rather large area towards central and northern parts saw temperatures reach the 25°C mark.”

Looking ahead to the weekend, more warm weather is on the horizon.

Temperatures are expected to reach as high as 22°C across some parts of the Isle of Wight.

According to the Isle of Wight Met Service, Saturday, when Riverfest takes place, is expected to be another fine, warm day.

There is also good news if you're taking part in Walk the Wight on Sunday.

It will be another warm day and there is expected to be a lot more cloud, meaning it won't be too hot.
