IT LOOKS as if the Isle of Wight will escape two thunderstorms simultaneously hovering over the South of England.
According to the national Met Office, there are yellow thunderstorm warnings, covering large areas, in place today (Tuesday).
The is one to the west of the Island, covering Dorset and much of the West Country and across Wales, which runs from 12 noon until 9pm.
The second one, spreads to East Anglia, London and many of the home counties, down to Hampshire — the nearest point of threat being Portsmouth, on the very southern edge of the storm area. The warning runs from 12 noon until midnight.
The Isle of Wight Met Service has not issued a weather warning for today.
Jamie Russell, the Island service's forecaster said there will be a fair amount of cloud spreading in from the south east, limiting any brighter spells and also bringing the risk of the odd localised shower during the day, although he predicts some showery spells of rain at times tonight.
