A WOMAN rescued from the water after going overboard from a pleasure vessel off the Isle of Wight has been taken to hospital, Coastguard have confirmed.
Earlier today (Thursday), HM Coastguard received a report of a woman going overboard south of Ventnor.
The alarm was raised at around 1.45pm.
Two HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopters and a fixed-wing aircraft were called to the scene, as were the RNLI's all-weather lifeboat from Bembridge, and Sandown and Shanklin Independent Lifeboat.
Two nearby vessels also supported.
HM Coastguard says the woman was winched safely out of the water by a rescue helicopter at around 4pm.
She was flown to St Mary's Hospital, Newport, for a check-up.
