DOVER Park Primary School in Ryde continues to be a 'good' school, says Ofsted.

It was the first ungraded inspection of the school since Ofsted judged it to be good, following its last visit in October 2018.

Ofsted highlighted a number of positives in its latest visit inspection — describing Dover Park as "kind and friendly" and that its pupils were proud of being that.

Inspectors added that the pupils "live up to the school’s high expectations, in terms of their learning and behaviour" and that in lessons "they work hard, achieve well and participate with enthusiasm".

"There is a happy atmosphere, where pupils feel safe and behave exceptionally well."

This has been mirrored by the parents (and carers), who are "overwhelmingly positive" about many aspects of Dover Park, which has 207 pupils.

Ofsted has been impressed by the efforts of Dover Park's new leadership team, with Jon Kirby taking over as headteacher in September last year.

He said of Ofsted's findings: "We are absolutely delighted to have received such an overwhelmingly positive review of our school, which is testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff and school community.

"Our team works tirelessly to provide the best possible opportunities for the children at Dover Park and it's great to have these efforts validated by Ofsted.

"Each and every day, the children amaze us with their enthusiasm, resilience and determination and we truly couldn't be prouder of them.

"The whole school community works as one team and together we will continue to build on our successes in the future."

The inspectors also viewed positively the implementation of "well-considered" training and development opportunities for staff, aligned to an extensive review of the curriculum they offer.

Reception children get their school life off to a "strong" start at Dover Park, say Ofsted, thanks to the "consistently high quality" staff-children interactions — turning them into "skilled and confident" readers.

Dover Park also has clear processes to identify and support disadvantaged pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, Ofsted noted.
