AN ISLE of Wight labourer stole and consumed ADHD medication belonging to his then girlfriend.

Adam Flesher, of Queens Road, Shanklin, appeared at the Isle of Wight Crown Court today (Wednesday, May 29).

At a previous hearing, the 30-year-old admitted a single count of theft, in East Cowes, on January 16 of last year.

Three further charges of common assault, assault by beating and intentional strangulation against the same victim were dismissed.

Prosecutor, Matthew Parris, said Flesher stole medication belonging to his then girlfriend.

He said the pair had been at home, and at around 8.30am, when the victim went to take her ADHD medication, she noticed tablets were missing from the bottle.

The court heard she confronted Flesher, who admitted consuming some, telling her she “didn’t need them”.

Mr Parris said Flesher sent her a message later that day, apologising, and admitting taking the tablets in interview.

Oliver Hirsch, defending, said Flesher – a labourer – admitted the offence straight away.

Flesher, who had 15 previous convictions for 25 offences, was made subject of a 12-month community order, to include 20 rehabilitation days and 40 hours of unpaid work.

He was also ordered to pay costs of £240 and had already been made subject of a restraining order.
