An Isle of Wight airport is set to host the Island’s Shed Fest this weekend (June 15-16), promising a fun-filled experience for all ages.

Taking place at Sandown Airport, which is also the home of the Sandown Aviation Museum and Sandown Shed, the event will take place between 10am – 4pm.

Visitors can expect a vibrant array of stalls and activities, alongside live music and refreshments.

A highlight of the festival will be the beer festival, which will extend its hours on Saturday evening.

With free entry and onsite parking, Shed Fed is aiming to be an accessible event for the whole community.

The Shed initiative, which began in Australia 30 years ago, focuses on reducing loneliness and social isolation among older men by providing a space for social interaction and skill sharing.

This year’s Shed Fest coincides with Father’s Day on June 16, offering a perfect outing for fathers and grandfathers to meet local ‘Men in Sheds’ members and learn more about their activities.

Representatives from six Island Sheds and four mainland groups will be in attendance alongside volunteers from the IW Steam Railway, the Bus Museum, Sandown and Shanklin Rotary and more.

The Shed Fest event has been sponsored by the Royal British Legion, with donations from Wight Aid and the Wight Aviation Museum.
