AN ISLE of Wight paedophile caught by police with more than 800 images of child sex abuse will go before a judge next month.
Barry Ewens, of Marlborough Cottages, Nettlestone, appeared before Isle of Wight magistrates on Tuesday, June 25.
The 75-year-old admitted three counts of making indecent photographs/pseudo-photographs of children, in Seaview, between October 9, 2020, and December 14, 2022.
Prosecutor, Liz Miller, said the case was unsuitable for the magistrates’ court due to the sheer number of images.
The court heard police discovered 443 category A images (the worst kind), 356 category B images, and 49 category C images.
Ewens saw his case adjourned to July 26 and was granted unconditional bail.
A pre-sentence report was ordered ahead of the Crown Court hearing.
