Two men and a teenager have been arrested following several alleged offences, including the theft of a Mercedes, which led to a police chase this afternoon (Wednesday, July 10).

A black Mercedes C Class was stolen from Cothey Way in Ryde between 8pm and 10pm on Sunday (July 7).

Several incidents involving this vehicle have been reported to police since the theft.

At around midday yesterday (Tuesday), two males allegedly stole items from a farm on Main Road in Havenstreet. They then made off in the Mercedes, said police.

Later the same day, at around 7pm, three males filled the same vehicle with £60 worth of fuel at Lake Morrisons and drove away without paying.

Shortly before midnight, the vehicle was involved in a further alleged theft from the same farm in Havenstreet.

Today (Wednesday), at 1.16pm, the Mercedes was spotted by officers on Lake Hill in Sandown.

Following a police chase, the vehicle was stopped on Knighton Shute in Newchurch, and three males from Sandown were arrested.

  • A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without the owner's consent.
  • A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drug driving, driving while disqualified, making off without payment and theft.
  • A 17-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of theft and possession of class B drugs.

All three remain in custody.
