The Isle of Wight's floating bridge has returned to service today (Thursday, July 18) after a week out of action.

The service between Cowes and East Cowes was suspended at around 5.30pm last Thursday (July 11) following an electrical fault.

In an update earlier this week, the IW Council, which operates the chain ferry, said it had anticipated the arrival of necessary service parts on Monday (July 15), but they did not arrive as scheduled from the supplier.

At a cabinet meeting this evening, Cllr Lora Peacey-Wilcox confirmed that the floating bridge service was operational from 5pm today.

Cllr Phil Jordan added that the parts needed arrived earlier today.
