A busy Isle of Wight crossroads will 'temporarily close' tomorrow (Tuesday, July 23) to allow for urgent repairs.
The crossroad junction at Morton Road, New Road, Yarbridge and Marchcombe Shute (Yarbridge Crossroads), between Brading and Sandown, will be closed from 6am.
The closure at the four-way crossroad is necessary to allow SGN to carry out urgent repairs to a section of the low-pressure gas main.
Due to the leak's location - in the centre of the junction - SNG said it has no other safe option than to close the road while repairs are carried out temporarily.
This leak is a different gas pipe to the medium pressure pipe that SNG previously replaced, a spokesperson said.
Southern Vectis bus routes will be affected by the closure.
A SGN spokesperson said: "It's too early to say how long the repairs will take to complete but we’ll be doing all we can to complete the repairs as quickly and as safely as possible."
