A teenage Isle of Wight paedophile caught with over 900 child sex abuse images, which he was known to have distributed to other people, will be sentenced next month.
Jamie O’Neil, of Culver Road, Shanklin, attended the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, July 23, and pleaded guilty to six charges.
The 19-year-old admitted three counts of possessing indecent photographs of a child and three further counts of distributing indecent photographs of a child.
Liz Miller, prosecuting, said that between April 27 and July 15, 2022, O’Neil had in his possession 159 Category A (the most serious), 324 Category B and 428 Category C indecent images of children, a total of 911 photos.
Ms Miller told the court that, during the same period, O’Neil distributed and shared Category A, B and C indecent images of children.
The offences were committed when O’Neil was 17 years old.
The prosecution said the case was too serious to be dealt with in magistrates’ court and asked for sentencing to take place before a judge in crown court.
Rachel Wigley, defending, said she had nothing further to add.
Magistrates ordered a pre-sentence report to be carried out ahead of sentencing on August 30 at the IW Crown Court.
