It is always one of the best events on Ventnor's calendar and the 2024 carnival didn't disappoint.

Led by Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team and Ventnor Fire Station vehicles, the procession wound its way around the town - although not without a diversion and some difficulty due to a parked car along a narrow stretch of the route.

The hold-ups just gave an excuse for more dancing in the street, a few extra tunes from the bands, and a game of street cricket for the kids thanks to Ventnor Cricket Club.

The County Press's Facebook Live was delightfully distracted by three-year-old little drummer boy Harrison Winterbottom whose family are in Medina Marching Band - it clearly won't be long before he joins the ranks!

Ventnor's carnival float was inspired by the beautiful Ventnor Park and bandstand.

Large entries from St Catherine's School, the Spyglass Inn, the rugby club and the Better Days Cafe all helped make the procession quite the spectacle.

The evening finished off with some fabulous seafront fireworks thanks to financial contributions from several local businesses.

There's more fun in Ventnor this week as the pirate festival continues and Ventnor Day takes place tomorrow (Friday).
