AN ISLE of Wight man who attacked his wife after they had a row, will learn his fate later this month.
Leigh Ord, of Orchard Road, Shanklin, admitted assaulting his wife by beating, on July 7, when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates' Court on Tuesday (September 4).
He also admitted obstructing or resisting a police officer in the execution of their duty, in Shanklin, on that date.
Mrs Ord told police that six days before the attack, Ord turned nasty — threatening to punch a wall, said Lauren Stone, prosecuting.
On the day of the assault, 40-year-old Ord returned home "swaying about", as if drunk.
Following an argument in their bedroom, Mrs Ord went to the lounge.
Ord followed, flipped over a table, pushed his wife onto the sofa and pinned her down, which caused her pain, the bench was told.
Although Ord denied much of his wife's account, Miss Stone said a Newton hearing was not necessary as it would make no material difference to his sentencing range.
Magistrates ordered a report on Ord, covering all sentencing options, including jail.
Ord was bailed to reappear for sentencing at the same venue on November 15.
