A BODY has been discovered in the water at an Isle of Wight beach.
Police were called at 9.25am today (Sunday, September 8) following a report the body of a woman had been seen in the water at the beach in Shanklin.
Officers attended the scene, alongside coastguard rescue teams from the Island.

UPDATED 3pm:
Bembridge and Ventnor coastguard rescue teams, Bembridge RNLI lifeboat and the coastguard rescue helicopter from Lee-in-the-Solent were called out at 9.30am this morning (Sunday).
The woman, aged in her 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Formal identification is yet to take place. However, her next of kin have been informed and a file will be prepared for the coroner in relation to this unexpected death,” a Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesperson said in a statement.
