A dog has been seized and two men have been arrested following an incident in central Newport on the Isle of Wight earlier today (Friday, September 13).
UPDATE: Isle of Wight police are now appealing to the public for help.
Police were deployed following reports of disturbance at the junction of Pyle Street and St. James' Street at around 9.20am.
A 58-year-old man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of causing unnecessary harm to an animal, with officers seizing a dog.
A 39-year-old man from Newport was also arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly in a public place and using threatening language to cause distress.
Police enquiries are ongoing and both men remain in custody.
