Our new series is putting a spotlight on Isle of Wight pubs.
Last time, we shined a light on The Woodman's Arms in Wootton.
This week, we were invited in to the Prince of Wales in Newport.
Owners Steve and Sallie took over the South Street pub in June, with Steve moving back from the mainland after growing up in Newport.
Steve said: "I spent most of my teenage years sat on the bus station wall, basically looking at this pub, never dreaming that one day I would buy and run it.
"I wanted to move back to the island, it was just about finding work, and we decided to start our own business and we were looking for what was available.
"Because I'd run pubs previously on the mainland, I thought it was ideal as it gets me back to the island after 28 years away.
"It's a job, it's a house, it all worked out in one little package."
Since coming into ownership, Steve and Sallie have renovated the pub, lightening up some of the pub's features to make it a nicer atmosphere.
Heavy curtains have been replaced with blinds, and darker paintwork on wooden features has been changed.
Subtle scooter memorabilia adorns the walls of the pub, representing Steve and Sallie's links to the scooter community.
While the pub isn't a scooter pub per se, it encouraged scooterists to visit during the Bank Holiday weekend, playing ska music.
The Prince of Wales also features a secret garden at the back of the building, a postage stamp sun trap in the centre of Newport.
Changes have been made with the pub locals in mind, while also attracting a larger customer base.
Steve said: "We've said a few times that we should've changed our name to The Bus Stop, because so many people have a quick pint having just missed their bus.
"Every day there's someone waiting for a bus."
The next steps for Steve and Sallie are to put in a kitchen, where they intend to serve basic pub food, and replace the carpet.
The pub is also partnered with cardiac rehabilitation charity Heartbeat this year, and hosted a quiz to raise money.
The Prince of Wales is open from 10.30am on Monday to Saturday, and 12pm on Sunday.
