ISLE of Wight boxer Chez Nihell made it three pro fights out of three after he defeated a previously unbeaten Polish fighter in a bill-topping bout at Southsea Pier on Saturday.

Chez, a serving soldier, won the six-round fight at the Notorious Professional Boxing Show against Tomasz Borowiec, an opponent with an elite world level amateur kickboxing background.

An accomplished former elite ABAE champion, Chez won each round — and the bout — comfortably, with a final score of 60-55.

Chez, who began boxing at Newport Phoenix Amateur Boxing Club on the Island, used his switch-hitting skills to dominate the apprehensive opponent — scoring with sharp lefts in the opener, before he targeted the body.

The Islander stalked Borowiec in every round, setting up some classy and dangerous left hooks and sweeping rights to earn his decisive win.

After the fight, Chez, who is based at army headquarters, Aldershot, said: “It was a long camp. We did 60 rounds of open sparring in preparation for the fight — and it showed in my performance.

“But what I was most happy about was that I put on a good show for the home crowd.”

Chez aims to confirm one more fight this year, in December, with the expectation of moving up to eight-round fights in the new year.
