THE great and the good of British speedway gathered in Coventry last Friday to celebrate the successes of the UK 2019 season, with awards being presented to clubs and individuals from all three divisions of the sport.

The Isle of Wight Wightlink Warriors, represented by co-promoters Barry Bishop and Martin Widman, team manager Jackie Vatcher and captain Ben Morley, collected the accolade for the most improved club in the National Development League.

Afterwards, Barry said: “Martin and I were taken aback and surprised to win the award.

“Having said that, it is an award for everyone at the club who make the Warriors experience on race day something we’re rightly proud of.”

The World Speedway Riders Association (WSRA) annual dinner is on this weekend. Last year, the Warriors were named WSRA community club of 2018.
