If running or the gym is not for you but you want to lose weight and get fitter in 2020, then look out for a new initiative at West Wight Sports and Community Centre.

Kick Out the Calories is a five-a-side football league for adults who want to be more active, more often.

The aim is help players get fitter, lose weight and enjoy the beautiful game.

The Kick Out the Calories League will be decided not just on points won, but pounds lost.

Shannon Kilcullen, FA qualified coach and gym and fitness supervisor at the centre, said: "Football is a fantastic sport and a great way to get the benefits of exercise – increased fitness and weight loss – while doing a sport you love.

"There will also be workshops giving information about healthy living."

The centre says there are many health benefits, including weight loss, bone strengthening, increasing stamina and socialising.

You can join on your own and be put into a team. Equally, if you have friends, family or colleagues who also want to get more active, join with them and you can be in the same team; or even create a team yourself.

Secure your place in the league by booking at reception or by calling 752168.

‘Kick Out the Calories’ will run every Tuesday, from January 21, in the centre sports hall, from 7.30 to 9pm, and costs £5 per session.
