THE Isle of Wight Wightlink Warriors speedway club is ready to distribute even more free reusable Covid-19 masks to Islanders.

Barry Bishop and Martin Widman, who co-promote the Warriors and Wizards teams on the Island, have another 200 masks available to those who needs them.

They are royal blue with the Warriors logo on them.

Priority for issuing them will be given to the following:

  • NHS staff of any capacity
  • Care industry staff of any capacity
  • Key workers
  • Fans in the high risk category
  • Anyone else.

These masks are reusable and can be washed at 60C, are double-sided and produced with cotton inside and polyester outside.

What these masks do not do is replace the advice of the government and the World Health Organisation.

However, it has been suggested wearing a mask does help prevent the wearer from transmitting the virus if they have it and it also offers some barrier against the virus too.

Barry said: "Two hundred more of the masks arrived today (Saturday). If you want one, email me.

"All we ask is a donation to cover the cost, with anything else on top going to charity.

"We don’t make a penny from these, just the knowledge our logo is making a difference is enough."

The sport's promoters say they are 'happy in the knowledge that they will have done a little bit more to support both the NHS and individuals at the most strange of times.'
