RYDE Harriers took part in a variety of virtual races last month, with a percentage of the entry fees being donated to the Youth Trust and Mountbatten Hospice.

Members tackled a combination of 2km and 5km runs, a Newport to Ryde run and the West Wight Three Hills run.

A special prize was awarded to Jackie Williams — a new runner who trained four times a week for two weeks to support her injured husband, Paul.

Jackie struck a deal with Paul, saying if he rested, she would run with him.

Paul and Jackie completed the Three Hills run in 1 hour and 39 mins and Jackie now trains regularly.

Brother and sister duo, Jessie and Charlie Tuck completed their 5km race in an impressive time of 30 mins 30 secs.

The mystery prize virtual run was awarded to Tillie Moore, Carolyn Littleton and Rachel Richards for totalling 15.7 miles, running a circular route from Newport to Ryde.

Photo prizes were awarded to Aaron McGrath, Freddie Powell and three-year-old Lucas Pope, who took part in the 2km race dressed as Spider-Man.

The Three Hills picture prize went to Alison Critchley, Kate Holbrook, Caroline Dall-Whittall and Reniera O’Donnell.

The picture was taken overlooking the needles on a sunny evening, and the ladies also had an adventure finding some new routes and clocking up an extra two miles.
