NEWPORT are buoyant after winning an eight-goal thriller, while the Yachtsmen sunk straight to the bottom of the Sydenhams Wessex Premier after being hit for six this afternoon (Saturday).

The goals flew in, in each of the matches involving the Isle of Wight's three Wessex sides.

In the Premier, Cowes Sports were hammered 6-1 away at struggling Fleet Town — a defeat that sees them bottom, with no points after three games.

They did chalk up their first goal of the league season though, through George Holmes.
