NEWPORT'S reward for knocking out Alton in the Buildbase FA Vase on Saturday is a first round proper away tie at Bristol side, Cribbs.

The tie, to be played in the West Country on Saturday, October 31, will give the Islanders a chance to gain revenge.

Cribbs, who play in the Western League Premier Division, beat Newport 2-0 at their former St George's Park ground in second round of the FA Vase almost two years ago.

Newport, of course, were a different side then — rebuilding after being relegated from the Sydenhams Wessex League Premier the previous season.

Port number two to Andy Sampson, Steve Brougham, said of the draw: "I don't know anything about the opposition yet, but we've got a good, exciting young side and on our day we can give anybody a game."

Steve's experience as a former Newport manager will be invaluable against Cribbs.

He led Newport to the last 16 of the competition when they beat fancied Brighouse Town at St George's Park back in 2013.
