ISLE OF Wight born triathlete Paul Whitbread won IN his age group at the Outlaw Nottingham 70.3 triathlon on Sunday.
The gruelling event, which is classed as 'half ironman' distance, comprised a 1,900m swim, 90km bike and a 21km run.
Paul, a former Cowes resident, finished it in a time of 4hrs 36mins 6secs to beat 79 other competitors in his age group (54-60).
He also came 80th overall out of 1,600 triathletes from all over the country.
Paul, whose parents still live in Cowes, previously represented the Isle of Wight at the Island Games as a cyclist, and swam for Seaclose Swimming Club.
