TEST cricket fans on the Isle of Wight will have an opportunity to cross The Solent to Southampton to watch an England v Australia Ashes match in 2027.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced The Ageas Bowl will host a men’s Ashes test in four years' time.
The Ageas Bowl will be one of five test venues for the 2027 Ashes series.
England will welcome Australia to Southampton in what will be “a historic moment for Hampshire Cricket, The Ageas Bowl and for cricket in general,” according to Hampshire Cricket chairman, Rod Bransgrove.
The venue will also play host to its first-ever women’s Ashes test in 2031.
The ECB announcement confirmed the venue has been awarded a total of 14 men’s internationals and five women’s internationals in the seven-year period between 2025 and 2031.
