THE Isle of Wight Wessex League clubs lead the way for what promises to be another fascinating and entertaining weekend of football ahead.
Today (Saturday), with very good weather forecast, Cowes Sports have a tough game against last season's Division 1 champions, Andover New Street, in the Wessex Premier.
The Yachtsmen beat United Services Portsmouth 5-1 last weekend, and the hosts won 3-0, but Cowes could edge it on their records so far this season.
In Division 1, East Cowes Vics will want to put their loss against nine-man Folland Sports behind them against rock bottom New Milton Town, one of last season's front runners.
Unusually again, Follands Sports return to Beatrice Avenue in East Cowes again, within the space of a week, this time against Newport, a place below the visitors.
Returning to Division 1 of the Island League, defending champions Shanklin entertain last season's runners ups W&B at the County Ground.
W&B have got off to the perfect start winning all their games so far and opening up a four-point gap with a game in hand, while Shanklin have struggled since their manager and several key players left at the end of their double-winning season.
The Island's three ladies teams — Shanklin Ladies, Cowes Sports Ladies and the Wight Eagles Ladies — are all in action tomorrow (Sunday).
