In Isle of Wight men's midweek football, there were losses for both of the local teams.
Newport travelled to Fleetlands' Powder Monkey Park tonight (Tuesday, October 8) for a 7.45pm Division One Wessex League kick off.
However, the final score was Fleetlands 2, Newport 0, leaving Newport struggling in 16th place.
The club posted on X/Twitter: "Finishes 2-0 here, Port stepped up second half but just couldn’t find that break through. Fleetlands away as always proved a lot of fun and we had a good laugh, despite the result. MOTM goes to Joe Craig who ran his socks off…. UTP"
In the Wessex Premier, Cowes Sports hosted AFC Portchester at Westwood Park, and with an attendance of 216, drew a good crowd for a midweek game.
The final score was Cowes Sports 1, Portchester 4, which means the Yachtsmen missed the chance to climb into the top six.
East Cowes Vics are next in league action on Saturday, when they host Fleetlands at Beatrice Avenue.
We can confirm that we will be welcoming @Whitchurchutd to Westwood in the Fa Vase ⚽️@WessexLeague
