ISLE of Wight boxing ace, Bobby Mills, travelled to Coventry to represent Newport Phoenix ABC at the weekend.
The 11-year-old Carisbrooke College student made the trip on Sunday, February 11.
Held at the Newdigate Sports and Social Club, he took on fellow 11-year-old Kia Graham of Team Seymour ABC.
Both boys started strongly, but it was Bobby who quickly took control; solid counterpunches forcing a standing eight count.
The Islander stuck to his game plan to counter over the top of Southpaw Kia Graham's lead hand, which scored heavily, causing his corner to concede and throw in the towel at the end of the first round.
“I am very pleased with Bobby's performance at the tender age of 11,” said head coach, Mike Voisey.
“He trains so hard to improve, and he gives 110 per cent in every training session.
“He now sets his sight on the School Boy Championships next month.”
