Gale warnings, icy rain and cancelled ferries meant some of the hardy Illusion fleet helms did not sail in the Vernon’s Easter Egg Cup challenge, on Good Friday.
However, the brave sixteen who did enjoyed sunshine and a force 3 to 5 south-south- westerly.
By day two, Saturday, March 30, a more promising forecast saw the Bembridge-based fleet swell to 22 boats.
There were six races over two days, with some general recalls and disqualifications.
However, it was Bruce Huber who lifted the cup on a count back, with Mark Downer second and Raymond Simonds third.
Crews will compete for the Flying Dutchman Trophy on April 4.
