Newport concluded their Wessex League campaign with a good win on the road, in club legend Gary Streeter’s final game in net before retirement – after decades of loyal service.
Andover Town 0-3 Newport
Backed by a strong travelling contingent, the game started with Streeter being given a guard of honour by both sets of players.
Streeter was made captain for the day and enjoyed 45 minutes in the Port net before being substituted at half time.

The only goal in a poor first half was the only bit of quality.
Lewis Parsons cut in on the edge of the box and smashed in an unstoppable shot for his second league goal of the season and his best yet.
Less than ten minutes into the second, Sonny Myram was tripped after darting into the box, and Joe Butcher stepped up to double Port’s lead.

Andover tried to build phases, but they lacked the cutting edge, as Port’s full-backs, Charlie Page and Keelan Walsh, both kept winning their duels.
A direct free kick on the edge of the penalty area saw Matthew Oatley step up and curl the ball top bins to make it three.
Port had chances to score a couple more, a brilliant header was well-saved, and a couple more half-chances came and went.

A spokesperson for Newport said: “A massive thank you to the travelling support, who made the first ever Glen Day a fitting tribute to our sorely missed friend, an even bigger thank you to all the players that have worn a Newport shirt this season.
“But today belonged to two Newport legends in their final Wessex League games.
“Everyone connected with the club, past and present say thank you for everything. You have gone above and beyond - Gary and Broughie, you are absolute legends.”
Port finished their campaign by breaking the 50-point barrier to comfortably finish midtable.
