Newport FC booked themselves a place in the final of the Isle of Wight Gold Cup, coming out on top in a closely-fought contest against Brading Town at Westwood Park.
Having seen off Port's Wessex Division One rivals, East Cowes Vics in the quarter-finals of the competition, The Romans were hoping for another scalp on Tuesday, April 30.
It was Newport who started the brighter of the sides though, with Jordan Browne heading over just six minutes in.
With 34 minutes on the clock, Port took full advantage of their dominance. Great play between Jordan Browne and Joe Craig saw the latter score on his return to action.
But, despite having much of the ball, Newport couldn't add to their lead and they were punished in injury time at the end of the first half.
Island League Division 1 side Brading found an equaliser, thanks to a shot from the corner of the box.
At the break, it was 1-1.
After a slow start to the second-half, it wasn't until the hour mark that the game sparked back into life.
A corner from Joe Butcher found Macaulay Watterson, who headed just over.
Port brought on Josh Younie in the 65th minute and just five minutes later, the substitute turned provider.
His corner found Scott Barron, who headed past the keeper to make it 2-1.
Brading had an effort cleared off the line late on, but it wasn't to be.
Port claimed the win and will now face either Cowes Sports or Shanklin in the final.
Final score: Newport 2-1 Brading.
