The Isle of Wight is hosting legends of football today (Saturday), with Newport FC, at the home of Cowes Sports.

Ex England and Southampton player, Matt Le Tissier, is among those taking part.

Now a pundit, he scored 209 goals in 540 appearances for Saints, was the first midfielder to net 100 goals in the Premier League and earned eight caps for England from 1995 to 1998 before retiring, in 2002.

Newport Football Club is behind the Isle of Wight legends v Saints Legends game at Westwood Park.

Also taking to the pitch will be Rickie Lambert, Matt Oakley and James Beattie.

Isle of Wight Legends v Saints Legends kicks off at 1pm, at the ground on Reynolds Close, Cowes.

Gates open from 11.30am.

Phil Parsons, CEO of Southampton FC, said: "It is great for Southampton FC to officially be associated with the game.

"Led by the Ex-Saints players, we are pleased to support Newport IW FC."

For Newport, John Davis, said: "I’m totally blown away by Southampton’s gesture.

"One of the things people talk about is money in the game and how big clubs do nothing to support grassroots, but SFC has truly blown that out of the park."

Park at Cowes Enterprise College, where there will be a bucket collection, from 10:30am.
