Isle of Wight golfers will be raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support today (June 20), in Ryde, in memory of Christine Buckell-May.

In aid of Macmillan, the Longest Day Golf Challenge will raise vital cash to support people with cancer, as golfers complete 36, 72 or 100 holes, teeing off at dawn.

As part of a team of five Islanders, Christine's grandson, Daniel May, is taking part in the 72 hole challenge.

He was taught to play golf by Christine's son, his dad, David May.

The team is hoping to raise £1,000 and has already gathered nearly £400.

Daniel said: "I want to thank everyone who has supported us so far and is helping to make it a success."

Christine died in 2014.

Daniel and team's Longest Day Golf Challenge will take place at Westridge Golf Centre, Ryde.
