The 16th edition of the Taittinger Royal Solent Yacht Club Regatta took place earlier this month.

This thrilling event saw 188 boats racing in Yarmouth.

The three-day event, from July 12 to 14, showcased intense competition and remarkable racing skills.

Two groups, Black and White, each with 94 boats, took their positions on the mainland shore as they waited for the day's races to begin.

The start was slightly delayed on the Saturday morning until the light south-westerly wind came in, ideal for racing.

One team that performed well was father and son duo, Michael and Sebastian Blair.

The pair won the IRC 1 overall, an intensely competitive 19-boat class, with their meticulously campaigned King 40 Cobra.

The pair said: "There was some really tough opposition."

They acknowledged the high standard of other competing boats, such as Sunrise, and Dawn Treader, which they described as 'exceptional'.

Michael Blair added: "We really enjoyed it, it’s a tremendous club and event and certainly the crew enjoyed all the parties."
