From Tony Pendleton, Newport:
I wrote this on the Sunday afternoon before we found out how disappointed the country was by the England v Italy Euros result.
I am listening to the radio hearing Vindaloo Two and how the proceeds of its sale will go to NHS charities.
Just want to say that the NHS is not a charity.
The more that it is referred to as such will stick in folks' heads that it’s funded as a charity.
I’m not suggesting that folk don’t donate to charities, I am suggesting that people understand that our taxes and national insurance funds the NHS.
I would pay a bit more to ensure we all have free access, so that it’s peripheral services are not dependent on charitable contributions.
