Do you remember the injured swan featured earlier this year (CP online, 21-04-21), and the indifference towards its plight shown by all but one local vet?

Sadly the swan died and lots of people said: "What's all the fuss about, it's just a swan" — well take a look at this.

This is Alan and Alice with their latest brood of cygnets.

This year they have managed to raise all five of their chicks, previously they were lucky if just one survived.

This pair have been living and breeding in the harbour for about five years, and we are as sure as we can be the swan which got so badly injured it had to be put down, was one of their previous offspring.

We have the pleasure of their company every morning for breakfast, along with about 40 or 50 ducks, and they can be seen throughout the harbour at different times of the day, often swimming along in a perfect line.

This is one of the many reasons we choose to live here, and will always look out for them.
