It’s reported the Isle of Wight Council is looking at whether it has enough parking capacity to support increased future demand (CP, 26-02-21).

May I suggest it first takes a look at the widespread use of double yellow lines in the Cowes area with a view to removing some of them?

The Isle of Wight Council's new parking strategy explained.

Some wide roads have double yellow lines on both sides. Why?

Some roads have a double yellow line opposite an area of shrubland. Why?

Some roads have scope for several parking space gaps yet the double yellow line is continuous. Why?

If the council wants to raise more money from parking, why not expand the CS2 parking permit scheme?

It would be helpful if the council could explain its current roads parking strategy before embarking on any changes.
