THE Conservative Party is the only political group to field election candidates in all 39 wards of the Isle of Wight.

They have announced 22 new faces, along with 17 existing councillors up for re-election.

The new candidates are: Joe Robertson (Bembridge), Ed Hopper (Binstead and Fishbourne), Bev Hastings (Carisbrooke and Gunville), Suzie Ellis (Central Rural), Oscar Bicket (Cowes Medina), Tim Jeffreys (Cowes West and Gurnard), Jane Rann (East Cowes), Peter Spink (Freshwater North and Yarmouth), Martin Oliver (Mountjoy and Shide), Michael Ward (Nettlestone and Seaview), Matthew Ambrosini (Newport Central), Ray Redrup (Newport West), Danielle Fleet (Pan and Barton), Cara Lock (Parkhurst and Hunnyhill), Tiarnan Finney (Ryde Appley and Elmfield), Rhys Wright (Ryde Monktonmead), Steve Sheridan (Ryde North West), Warren Drew (Ryde South East), Lou Temel (Ryde West), Ian Fletcher (Sandown North), Carol Bryan (Totland and Colwell), and Colm Watling (Wroxall, Lowtherville and Bonchurch).

The current councillors seeking re-election are: Brian Tyndall (Brading and St Helens), Steve Hastings (Brighstone, Calbourne and Shalfleet), Dave Stewart (Chale, Niton and Shorwell), Richard Hollis (Cowes North), John Nicholson (Cowes South and Northwood), Matthew Price (Fairlee and Whippingham), George Cameron (Freshwater South), Vanessa Churchman (Haylands and Swanmore), Tig Outlaw (Lake North), Paul Brading (Lake South), Clare Mosdell (Newchurch, Havenstreet and Ashey), Stephen Hendry (Osborne), Ian Ward (Sandown South), Michael Beston (Shanklin Central), Chris Quirk (Shanklin South), Gary Peace (Ventnor and St Lawrence), Barry Abraham (Wootton Bridge).

The party said the new candidates brought a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences, including a former policewoman, retired headteacher, a litigation consultant, a digital communications manager and a retired barrister.

They are also fielding some young candidates.
