Isle of Wight voters are being invited to talk to members of new party Our Island over the next fortnight, in two forthcoming Zoom meetings.

They will be held tonight (Monday, April 19) and on Monday, April 26, at 7pm.

The party says it is a chance to ask questions.

On May 6, as well as town and parish councils and the Police and Crime Commissioner, seats at County Hall will be up for grabs.

Pauline Evans, Our Island candidate for Sandown South said: "Our Island is very much about listening to residents and learning what their concerns and issues are.

"We want to see this approach become part of the way the Isle of Wight Council operates."

Phil Warren, Our Island candidate for Ventnor and St Lawrence, said: "Our aim is to get the public engaged with the council and councillors.

"We will only do that by improving access to meetings and decision making processes, enabling residents and businesses to actively participate."

Jonathan Bacon. Our Island candidate for Brading and St Helens, said: "The online meetings Our Island has held to date have been productive and enlightening have shown the value of this approach.

"We are looking forward to our April meetings and to listening further to the people and businesses who are directly affected by what the council does, or fails to do."
