Isle of Wight voter registration deadline day and what do

Usually, proxy votes are available for people unable to vote in person, for a number of reasons, but they must be applied for in advance.

This year, because both a voter and a proxy voter may be required to self-isolate at short notice, different rules apply.

If a reason arises after the proxy vote deadline, April 27, at 5pm, you can still apply.

A new person can be arranged, up until 5pm on polling day, May 6, as long as your reasons comply with the rules.

Your proxy must be a registered voter and must be aged over 18 years old. They cannot be acting for anyone else at the same election.

If you want to vote by proxy for normal reasons, you will need to apply by 5pm on Tuesday 27 April.

If, after 5pm on Tuesday 27 April, you find you are unable to attend your polling station in person due to a medical emergency, or due to your occupation, service or employment and you only become aware of that fact after 5pm on Tuesday 27 April, you may be able to appoint an emergency proxy to vote on your behalf.
