POLICE on the Isle of Wight have pledged to continue to patrol areas in Sandown considered to be hot spots for alcohol-related anti-social behaviour.

In response to concerns raised by residents in the seaside town, officers with the South Wight Neighbourhood Team have been on foot patrol in areas of particular concern.

They include Sandham Gardens, Sandown High Street and Sandown Esplanade.

Following a patrol of the area yesterday (Friday), Isle of Wight Police commented on social media: "We are pleased to report no groups were present (during the morning until lunchtime) and there was no anti-social behaviour taking place.

"We will continue these targeted patrols at various times and seek out those who look to cause anti-social behaviour and criminal acts.

"If residents do locate any groups causing nuisance, notify the police on 101, or through our online reporting system.

"In an emergency, always call 999."
