SIXTH form students at Ryde School have been sent home to self isolate following two confirmed Covid cases.

Ryde School has written to parents of the Senior School today to tell them Sixth Form pupils and a small number of teaching staff have been sent home to isolate while a Covid track and trace investigation is carried out.

Three other pupils have also been sent home as a precaution, due to two confirmed cases of Covid-19, in one pupil and one member of staff in the Senior School.

The school said it was likely a number of pupils and staff will now need to isolate for ten days and affected pupils and staff will switch to online learning tomorrow.

All junior school pupils and staff, including those in Fiveways and the Nursery, and the

majority of senior school pupils, will be in school as usual tomorrow.

The school has notified health authorities and Public Health England has worked with the headteacher in determining the course of action to take.

Head Mark Waldron said: "The pupils and staff affected have been sent home to isolate. We are closely monitoring the current situation with PHE.

"We will continue to implement daily temperature and symptom checks on all staff and pupils in school, all of whom have been provided with lateral flow test devices.

"Parents have been asked, as always, to remain vigilant to ensure the safe running of our school but for the vast majority of pupils and staff it is business as usual."
