POLICE responding to reports of a row between two people in Sandown went on to arrest a man wielding a knife and on suspicion of injuring a woman.
Officers were called to reports of a public order offence in Avenue Road at 5pm yesterday (Friday).
Reports came in concerning an argument in the street, which descended into violence, in which a woman was alleged to have been assaulted and that a man was seen waving a knife.
A 50-year-old man from Sandown was arrested on suspicion of affray and assaulting a person, inflicting actual bodily harm.
A knife was seized by officers.
The suspect remains in custody at this time.
