BOMB disposal experts from Portsmouth were dispatched to the Isle of Wight following a report of what was believed to have been old ordnance found in a back garden.
Police officers were initially called just before 1pm yesterday (Friday) after what was understood to have been the discovery of a historic device in a garden along Vectis Road, East Cowes.
A cordon was put in place around the property as a precaution, as officers awaited the arrival of the Royal Navy EOD unit to arrive from across The Solent.
Following an inspection of the item, experts confirmed it was not an explosive.
