From Nigel Tunbridge, of Seaview:

With regard to the controversy over the Adult Social Care (ASC) component quoted on the 2021-2022 council tax bills, it is a little misleading, because ASC isn’t a precept, plus there are other factors that come into play — the additional percentage amount applied, and the effect of the fire service becoming a precept has.

In short, it’s complicated.

There is a working example on the council's website for band D properties, but when you apply the same formula to other bands, it doesn’t seem to correlate to the ASC sum quoted.

Perhaps the formula differs from band to band? It certainly needs clarification.

Perhaps the council can publish working examples of how ASC has been calculated for each property band on their website.
