TODAY'S Covid update has shown two new cases of the virus for the Isle of Wight.

The Island's overall total stands at 6,861 positive cases since the start of the pandemic.

The positive cases of coronavirus have been revealed in the latest figures produced by Public Health England, with yesterday (Monday) also showing two new cases, while Saturday and Sunday each saw five cases recorded.

The Island's rolling average of cases per 100,000 people, in the seven days to May 27, has risen from 13.4 to 17.6.

This still compares favourably with the national figure of 30.3, which is up from yesterday's 28.6.

On the national front, no Covid related deaths have been recorded in the UK today for the first time since last summer.
