An Isle of Wight-based environmentally friendly fashion brand is ready to hire 50 new employees at its bases in Freshwater and East Cowes.

Teemill is a digital platform that allows retailers across the globe to share access to Island-based t-shirt maker Rapanui's supply chain and technology.

Both are committed to the idea of a 'circular economy', which in this case means limiting (or eradicating) waste, to cut down on the impact of fashion on the environment.

A number of charities are supported too.

Tobias Penner co-runs Teemill and told the County Press: "We have continued to grow and the original vision is unchanged - to build a digital company that does something positive about sustainability here on the Isle of Wight, our home.

"Continuing to invest on the Island is what we want to do. This recent round of jobs is linked to our growth, as Teemill users are becoming larger and increasingly international”.

The investment follows a recent expansion into the Albany building at East Cowes.

Fifty jobs have been created in design, product development, warehousing, manufacturing and software engineering.

Teemill already employs around 130 Islanders, many of whom joined as graduate trainees or via modern apprenticeship.

The firm is capable of shipping one recycled/recyclable organic cotton T-shirt per second and uses renewable energy to power its Island facilities and internet infrastructure.
