MORE Covid cases have been confirmed on the Isle of Wight.

Daily data released by Public Health England has shown three cases added on today, taking the cumulative total since the pandemic began, to 6,888.

Three cases were also added yesterday (Monday).

Numbers of the Delta variant are so far recorded as being low on the Island — fewer than five — according to the most recent figures available (data from the week leading up to June 9).

The UK's rolling rate of cases per 100,000 people is currently at 70.2.

The Isle of Wight's rolling rate is 11.3, up on yesterday's 9.2 and Sunday's 5.6. This figure is always five days behind.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson yesterday announced a delay to the final phase of reopening the country, with a new date of July 19 put in place of the initially scheduled date of June 21.
