JUST one case of Covid was added to yesterday's Isle of Wight total — pushing the number of confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic to 6,900.

The daily data was published by Public Health England.

The Island's rolling rate per 100,000 people is now 12.7, well below the UK rate of 77.4. However, the local rate has risen steadily this week, from 5.6 on Sunday.

Covid vaccine numbers for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight have now passed two million.

The latest data from NHS England shows 2,837 vaccines were put in the arms of Islanders in the week ending June 13 — nearly 8,000 less than two weeks before in the week ending May 30.

The rollout of the vaccine is however extending down to younger age groups with 21 years olds now being invited to book their jab at the Riverside Centre, in Newport.

The data shows 2,051 under 25s and 2,054 age 25 to 29 have now had a first dose of a Covid vaccine on the Island.
